Signal Chasers Meeting Minutes
November 8, 2018
President Dick Horowitz called the meeting to order at 5:55 p.m.
There was no sale of 50/50 tickets at this meeting.
Dick Horowitz made a Motion, asking if everyone got their copy of the October Minutes. Yes.
Motion to accepted by Don Hoffmann, 2nd Terry Tolen.
Dick Horowitz thanked Dick Davis and Alan Gale for the work they did to complete the closure of our pavilion, and the installation of the wood burning stove.
A long and detailed discussion arose regarding the 2018 Christmas Party coming up next month on Friday, December 7; Pearl Harbor Day, at 6:00 p.m.
All members who plan to attend need to notify our secretary so we can get an accurate head count for attendance. Her e-mail address is email@example.com. This request will be presented to our sister club, Aeropilots Club at their November Meeting, Wednesday the 14th.
As usual, each person attending should bring their own refreshments.
If you plan to participate in the Chinese Auction, Please bring a wrapped flight related gift, of approximately $25.00 Value. This event has always been fun filled and much enjoyed!
Dick Horowitz and his wife Patty plan to bring the Main dish.
He assures us there will be plenty for all of us. Last year, we wound up with more food than needed. We again request that members who‘s last name begins with A to K bring an appetizer or a side dish; and who‘s last name begins with L to Z, bring a desert. We will share this information with AeroPilots Members.
Currently, Ted Schmitz has agreed to bring Shrimp, and sauce for dipping. Robert Dean has stated he and his wife Genelle will bring a desert. Beth will bring Chili, and cheese, and oyster crackers.
Other Old Business
Dick Horowitz asked Norbert Craig if h feels that he and his Nephew are still planning to level he dirt for the Runway. Yes, even if they need to use their tractors. Not sure if they can get the bobcat. Once the dirt is leveled, the South strip needs to be flipped to the North. The club needs to get rebar so we can tie down the strips to hopefully prevent rolling if/when another flood comes over our field. These need to be long enough to hold better than the old ones! Bob Brown suggested that the scrap metal facility in Valley Park might have the rebar we need.
Dick also plans to run additional electrical for plug-in’s inside the enclosed area, and additional lighting.
A question about the mowers arose, and Greg Groesch said all are OKAY!
In future, we need to watch water levels, and if flooding is predicted, we need to have a Phone Chain ready to contact all available members to assist in preparing for the worst. Better to remove everything ahead of time than loose everything we worked so hard to replace! This needs to be set in place ASAP.
We need someone to chair the list of phone numbers and divide it up so each group has responsibility to call the next group on the Primary List. Will someone please volunteer?
A call to approve all nominated officers were approved for the 2019 slate.
